Barbara believes the key to successful results is teamwork. She is open to suggestions. This applies to any situation—running a successful household, competing in athletics, operating a large business. Barbara has successfully demonstrated her partnership approach at home when raising her four sons, on the court during her days as a tennis standout, and as owner and executive director of North Shore Day School and Camp in Glen Cove.

Barbara and her husband, James, bought this facility from her mother in 1972. She rose to the challenge of increasing the school enrollment from 50 children to 200. She also was responsible for overseeing 125 employees, writing programs, ordering supplies, handling payroll and paying the bills.

Barbara's Efficiency Benefits Others

This efficiency and success at juggling multiple tasks at once isn’t an easy feat for someone less organized than Barbara. What she realized was that the input of those around her is crucial to the success of any operation. “Teamwork is what holds it all together,” Barbara says. After 20 years managing North Shore Day School, she decided to take her business know-how and expertise to a new vocation and became a real estate professional. It was a natural transition.

Barbara also understands that selling a home is not always convenient. She offers a property-management service that is not usually offered. For instance, if an attorney asks Barbara to handle an estate sale and the property is empty and in need of repairs, she takes care of all the details. “As part of my service, I will manage a home which may include scheduling workers to touch up problem areas and putting in a temporary tenant if necessary,” Barbara says. She also supervises lawn services and snow plowing.

More important than going the extra mile for you is her approach to your transaction. Barbara works with you—you just tell her your needs and specifications. She listens closely, then goes to work mapping out a plan that is tailored specifically to your requests while serving as a counselor, informing you of all your options so you can make educated decisions.
